Phra Yord Khun Pon

The majestic Phra Yord Khun Pon originated a few hundred years ago and are commonly worn @ used by Guru Monks, Achans, warriors, generals and kings for protection against weapons, Power of Authority  and Victory. Yord Khun Pon literally means Great General or Great Field Marshal.

In Thailabd, Phra Yord Khun Pon was popularised by late Achan Chum Chaikhiree from Samnak Kunchea Saiyasat. Phra Yord Khun was thought to be a war lord or some will describe Phra Yord Khun Pon as a Buddha putting @ wearing  a War Lord attire. Some misleading parties would describe Yord Khun Pon as General Khun Paen – Great Warrior. Khun Paen special posture after conquering his enemies.

Phra Yord Khun Pon is actually a Buddha figurine of preaching Abhidhamma in Tavatimsa Heaven. Sometimes, Yord Khun Pon also depicts the posture of Great Buddha descending from Tavatimsa Heaven. That is why Phra Yord Khun Pon is depicted in 2 different postures -  sitting and standing.

The seated posture means Buddha figurine of preaching Abhidhamma in Tavatimsa Heaven while standing / walking posture means Great Buddha was descending from Tavatimsa Heaven. Abhidhamma - in Tavatimsa Heaven, our Great Buddha, just prior completing the 7th annual rains retreat (vansa), seven years after Enlightenment, ascended from the Tavatimsa Heaven, to deliver the sermon on Abhidhamma to thousands of Devas and Brahmas including His mother, who was then born as a Deva in Thusita Heaven as God Mathru.

While preaching and delivering the sermon, Great Buddha was seated on the “Pandu Kambala” stone, the seat of God Sakra, He preached the Abhidhamma in depth for the period of 3 months. It was expounded to the heavenly beings, as it had to be explained to the same audience. No human being was able to listen for this sermon, in one stretch. The Gods who listened to the Buddha then, will be able to live until today, as their life span is much longer than that of human beings. (In Tavatimsa heaven, the life span is 1000 Celestial years. 1 day in Tavatimsa heaven is equal to 100 years in the human planet.)

Buddha returned to this world, every day during that period, at the shore of Anottatta lake in North India, to take his meals and to attend to other necessary daily requirements. Ven. Arahat Sariputta went there to meet the Buddha daily, to attend on him. He was the most intelligent of all the Arahats and was called Dhamma Senadipati. At that time the Buddha, gave Ven. Sariputta, a gist of the Abhidhamma that he had preached to the Gods on the previous day.

Ven. Sariputta taught in detail, what he learned to his 500 odd pupils. Those pupils in turn taught the other monks, and ultimately most of the monks at that time learned Abhidhamma which is the special and higher teaching of all Buddhas. At t he first council, the Dhamma and Vinaya were rehearsed. Dhamma included the Sutta and Abhidhamma. As writing was not prevalent at that time, the Dhamma was preserved orally and handed down from teacher to pupil. For the first time, the Tripitaka was written down at Aluvihara in Sri Lanka at the 4th Council during the reign of Vattagamini Abaya.

Phra Yord Khun Pon by Phor Than Plub – Phrakru Pairoj

The feature Yord Khun Pon above is another great creation that not many know about it. This limited version of Yord khun Pon was made by CK Pairoj of Ampher Resoe, Thailand. This version is very hard to find and can be said as a great substitution of Achan Chum's and Achan Nam's YKP. It's much cheaper than but still embedded with the great YKP power. Read more about CK Pairoj's YKP !

According to Achan Chum Chaikiri ( Great Yord Khun Pon creator ) and reinforced by Achan Nam, there are some GUIDES and  RESTRICTIONS ( vital yet compulsory ) to the user / owner in order to increase the limited power of this Yod Khun Pon Phithi Putharawadee. Achan Nam emphasised that : you have to keep 5 precepts without failed –( AVOID stealing, cheating, adultery, consume alcohol ),  not to allow any woman to touch it, even man needed to wash / cleanse his hands thoroughly  with special khata before touching / wearing, are not allowed to be brought / worn to entertainment premises, and last but not least is the practice of filial piety !

If you are the REAL ACHAN and you are occasionally performing a pithi @ withi, it’s a must @ you should have hang these 2 pieces of Great Yord Khun Pon by great Achan Chum & Achan Nam around your neck !
